French Literature Virutal Museum
I created this virtual museum in my Survey of French Literature class along with some of my colleagues. This course analyzed a variety of French literature spanning many time periods. This museum analyzes the differences between men and women and how they are portrayed in French literature. This analysis helped me to interpret different pieces of literature and their cultural significance. This project was extremely relevant to my interest in how culture can shape healthcare. Culture is a tool that can greatly impact the health of a population. This artifact demonstrates my interest and understanding of cultural competence and how it shapes healthcare. This skill will be important in working in healthcare in culturally diverse areas.
French Civilization Virtual Museum
This virtual museum was made in my Survey of French Civilization class. This class studies the history of the French and the development of France into what it is today. The museum studies the “Museo Parc d’Alésia” located in France. There are several exhibits and artifacts located at the museum that the website analyzes. From this class and this project I was able to learn about french history and civilization and how it developed and changed over time. This museum analyzes the “Galois” period and how it shaped France. Studying France’s history can help me to understand more modern French culture, which is a significant part of learning any language. Understanding French culture will help me to be a more effective healthcare provider while strengthening my language skills.
Film Analysis
I wrote this essay in my Survey of French Civilisation class. It is an analysis of the novel and film adaptation “La Princesse de Montpensier” by Madame de La Fayette. This story is one of love and loss. There are several types of love that are shown in the novel and film, from loyal friendships to fierce romances. This essay analyzes relationships and their positive and negative effects on one's life and how love plays an important role. This artifact helped me to become better at analyzing, not just summarizing text and demonstrates my critical thinking skills and my ability to explain those thoughts in French.
Le Camion Sucré
My colleague and I created this business plan in our “French for International Business” class. It explains our idea for a business plan for “Le Camion Sucre”, a mobile dessert truck. This project demonstrates my ability to be creative and also professional in the planning of this potential business. The business plan includes the market audience, needed supplies and general starting budget of our dessert truck. This helped me to strengthen my business savvy and general knowledge which is needed in administrative health roles. This artifact showcases my ability to effectively plan ahead and communicate the plan to others which are quintessential tools I will be using in my future.
Literature Review
I wrote this literature review for my “Health Determinants” class. This review compiles close to 30 peer reviewed articles about “The Long Term Effects of Adequate Prenatal Care on The Development of Children in The US.” This assignment taught me how to compile data as well as effectively read and analyze research articles. Writing this also taught me about important health disparities which span across different people groups. It is important to take into consideration the needs of the people you are working with specifically. This can help to make sure your communities are receiving adequate and effective care for their specific needs. This artifact demonstrates my ability to compile large amounts of knowledge into digestible information. This ability will be helpful and necessary in my future in public health when deciding the best course of action for the community.
Nonprofit Plan
I created this nonprofit mockup in my “Foundations of Nonprofit Leadership” class. This mockup includes the mission, vision, and values of a theoretical nonprofit organization. It also includes the short term and long term goals, staffing and budget plans. This assignment taught me the details and logistics of nonprofit organizations, how they are designed and how they run on a day to day basis. Knowing the ins and outs of nonprofit leadership will equip me to potentially work with them in the future in a public health setting, seeing as many aid programs are nonprofits.
